My department’s job is to present the monthly sales and financial figures to management and the local controllers in time. But we had noticed that the Gross Margin of Packaging Materials was constantly fluctuating for no apparent reason. I developed a different way of reporting the figures which had an immediate positive effect on the quality and transparency of the data. This resulted in a better analysis tool for management, who could then take the proper steps to improve the Gross Margin for Packaging Materials worldwide. We had to install a complete slicing line in the USA and get it ready for the Final Acceptance Test before the actual handover. The line was sold with extremely tough specifications and Performance Guarantees plus a short delivery time. It was crucial that the line could run smoothly or we wouldn’t be able to deliver as promised. Despite the tight time schedule and some delivery problems, we were able to run the test at the guaranteed speeds and within the specifications with zero rejects and 100% uptime. The customer was so satisfied that he decided to terminate the test three hours earlier than originally planned and declared it “passed with flying colours"!
